What’s next for Eli Manning?
The Giants quarterback was born in 1920 in a small town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, and his father died in 1923 when he was just 3 years old.
His mother, Helen, died when he turned 18, and they never lived in New York City, Manning’s mother told ESPN.
The Giants drafted him in the first round in 1971 and he spent four years in San Francisco before returning to the city for his second stint in New Jersey.
He played two more seasons in New Brunswick before heading to Oakland for two more years.
He spent the next five seasons with the Raiders, and after a couple of rough seasons in Oakland, he signed with the New York Giants in 1984.
The Giants had been in the market for a franchise quarterback and had been searching for someone with a similar resume.
Manning was one of the most productive quarterbacks in the league that season, completing 67.3 percent of his passes for 1,097 yards with 16 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 13 games.
He won his only playoff game and was selected to his first Pro Bowl in 1986.
The next few years in Oakland were rough, but Manning managed to turn things around and led the Raiders to a Super Bowl victory in 1990.
He led them to two more Super Bowls and won the league MVP award in 1999.
After a couple more rough seasons with Oakland, Manning retired in 2003.
His retirement was not without controversy.
In 2009, Manning was fined $100,000 by the NFL for using his cellphone to text teammates and former players.
In a 2010 interview with Sports Illustrated, he said, “I don’t have a bad relationship with the media.
They don’t want to see me suffer.
They want me to have a good life.”
The Giants are still searching for their next quarterback and have already had their eyes on Tom Brady for the past few seasons.
The New England Patriots have been a contender for Manning’s services for years, but they have a history of failing to land the veteran quarterback.
The Patriots drafted Brady in 2012, and he had a down season in 2015 and was released by the team before the season.
The Patriots did not make a big splash in free agency last offseason and the team has struggled to win games since.
The only player that has been able to produce at a high level for the team is quarterback Tom Brady.
Brady, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, was selected first overall in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Patriots.
The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly interested in acquiring Manning and the Patriots could be on the verge of signing him if the New England market turns up.
The 49ers, who are currently in a playoff race, have been searching hard for a quarterback for years and have been looking for a long-term solution.
The team could be headed toward a blockbuster trade involving Manning and another former star.
